Global health services to reach Rural AP ·


                                                                        - New Mexico University, ECHO India, Karuna Trust comes forward
·             -  To be implemented in Anantapur on pilot basis

A delegation from New Mexico University has come forward to employ best medical practices around the world to the rural areas of Andhra Pradesh. In this regard, representatives from the University, ECHO India and Karuna Trust met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu at his office in the Assembly.
Elaborating on the government’s plans to transform the state into a medical hub, the Chief Minister explained the delegation that the primary health care centres in all rural areas of the state are being modernized and equipped. He added that there is no lack of funds to provide modernized medical treatment at the government hospitals.
“It is commendable that charitable organizations, under corporate social responsibility are coming forward to work and develop the rural areas,” he said.
University of New Mexico, Echo and Karuna Trust will jointly begin services in Anantapur district on a pilot basis. They will offer services in ophthalmology, dental medicine, psychiatry and primary health department services. For this, international experts will train local doctors and nurses. They will employ the use of tele-medicine during surgeries. Furthermore, international medical experts will train 12,000 nurses in the state hospitals to reduce infant mortality of our state. 
The Chief Minister said that the project will be extended to the rest of the 12 districts after the successful implementation in Anantapur district. He congratulated Karuna Trust for providing specialized health care services at 28 basic medical centers in Karnataka.
ECHO India works with an intention to humanize health services. The main objective of the organization is to provide expensive treatment to rural areas without any profit.
Echo-Project Director, Gastroenterology expert Dr. Sanjeev Arora, founder of the Permian Premier Health Services, Dr. Jayaram Naidu, ECHO program specialist Smith Echo, Echo Chairman Dr. Kumud Mohan Roy, Executive Director, Dr. Sunil Anand, Karuna Trust Joint Secretary Sri Venkat Narayana, MLC Payyavula Keshav were present.
